Viking Early Education Center is hiring an Early Child Educator/After-School Care Specialist in Poulsbo, WA.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate K-5 Early Childhood Educator / After-School Care Specialist to join our team. This role involves providing nurturing care and educational support to children in our daycare and after-school programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development, a creative approach to education, and the ability to manage a safe and engaging learning environment. If you are a retired teacher, this position is a great fit.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and implement educational activities.

Using our software ProCare to plan and log activities.

For the first few months, consult and support business owners with the state certification process, upgrading and furnishing the facility to be ready for operation.

Provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.

Monitor and support the developmental needs of children, maintaining detailed records of their progress.

Facilitate engaging after-school activities, including homework help, arts and crafts, and recreational play.

Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child’s development and daily activities.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure a cohesive approach to child care and education.

Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and after-school areas.

Adhere to all health and safety regulations and center policies.

Qualifications:

College credits or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.

Previous experience in early childhood education, school teaching, or after-school care.

Strong understanding of child development stages and educational best practices.

Ability to create and implement age-appropriate educational activities.

Applicants should be comfortable in using the computer, office software, social media.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

A warm, patient, and nurturing personality.

Background check clearance.

Job Type: starting with 30 hours/week, switching to full-time later in the year.

Start Date: February or March 2024
