Kitchen Assistant at Temple Shalom

Friday evenings and Saturday late mornings/early afternoons

Temple Shalom seeks Kitchen Assistant for serving dessert and coffee on Friday nights and lunch on Saturday Mornings. Will also be responsible for unlocking and locking/securing building before and after events. Must be friendly and responsible. Must pass a CORI/SORI test, and provide references. Must be able to speak English, and follow written instructions in English.

Approximately 2.5 hours on Friday nights (usually 7:15pm to 9:45pm)

Approximately 4 hours on Saturday mornings (9:45am to 2:00pm)

Compensation is $20 per hour, paid every two weeks

Friday night responsibilities include turning off/on the alarm, turning on/off lights, putting down table covers, plating desserts and putting them out for buffet, pouring small cups of wine and grape juice, and cleaning up afterwards (disposing of compost and trash; sweeping the floor; replacing soiled table covers, washing serving dishes.). Approximately once a month there is a community dinner that will require helping to clear and clean the dinner serving dishes before putting out dessert. Usually the third Friday of the month we have an earlier service and would need the building opened at 6:30pm. Responsibilities are otherwise the same and the total time on Friday night would be the same as well.

Saturday morning responsibilities include turning off/on the alarm, turning on/off lights, putting down table covers, plating and preparing food according to instructions, putting food out for buffet, pouring small cups of wine and grape juice, and cleaning up afterwards including taking out trash and washing serving dishes.

Possibility of additional work hours on Jewish holidays and for other special events, by mutual consent.
