Manufacturing Chemist (Kent, WA)

RokaBio, a Leader in Food Safety, is now accepting applications for a Manufacturing Chemist position at its facility in Kent, WA.

This position requires a combination of technical skills and physical capabilities. Applicants should be able to perform formulation of molecular reagents and operate fully automated state of the art filling/packaging equipment. This position will include cross-training with other positions, so an interest in learning new skills is a must.

Ideal candidates will possess the following:

A BS in Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field (required)

Proven ability to follow written instructions

Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

History of teamwork and adaptability/flexibility

Ability to routinely lift up to 25lbs and occasionally lift up to 50lbs

Hands-on manufacturing experience, document control, and continuous improvement (preferably in biotech, pharma, or similar industries), and forklift training (preferred, but training can/will be provided)

Primary Responsibilities for this position include: formulation of multiple types of complex bulk solutions; filling of reagents using automated equipment; packaging of finished goods; set up, breakdown, and maintenance of filling/packaging equipment; inventory control, including cycle counts and issuance of materials to work orders; warehousing duties, including receiving, inspection, and shipping of goods; data entry into manufacturing documents and PLM software; maintaining a clean and organized work environment; and other duties as assigned.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00 hourly. This is a full-time position and is eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401(k), health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 6 paid holidays per year.

The laboratory operates weekends, so candidates must be willing to work some weekends.
