Your OpportunityThe Retail Web Technology (RWT) organization leads a coordinated technology approach to continually improve Schwab's primary retail digital platform. Our team is seeking a talented Site Reliability Engineer, who has a passion for problem solving and comes with strong operations background. What you are good atAs our Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for a sustainable approach to reliability using SRE principles. Our team is essential in supporting the observability and operational reliability of Schwab's primary retail digital platform. You will be joining a team that operates 24x7x365 in locations across the world. You will partner with multiple support teams to provide guidance and drive adoption of key site reliability engineering (SRE) practices in support of large-scale and mission-critical services. We are looking for skilled candidates who are enthusiastic about learning new and existing technologies to deliver exceptional solutions for the production resiliency of our systems. The role will require a high level of responsibility and accountability yet has a support structure necessary for development growth. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be expected to:

  • Partner with Engineering, Security, and infrastructure to build, deploy, maintain, support, and monitor complex microservice-based applications.
  • Perform production support & applications deployments and provide a rapid response for critical production applications.
  • Proactively detect, troubleshooting, and resolving all issues affecting production applications
  • Perform proactive daily system monitoring including reviewing system and application logs
  • Implement and collaborate on solutions that increase the monitoring and observability of systems at scale and detect and alert on trends of information
  • Identify applications reliability and availability improvements, establish, and build solutions to continue to drive an improved experience
  • Work with development teams to provide feedback and perform recommended upgrades to support our applications availability and reliability
  • Advocate and augment the Schwab Reliability Engineering principles, guidelines, and standards
  • Foster a culture of learning through education and knowledge sharing around reliability practices, processes, and tools
  • Participate in On-Call escalations during Market and off-hours
What you have
  • Proven track record of supporting enterprise production environment while adhering to a mix of DevOps & SRE frameworks.
  • Experience with logging/application monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Splunk, Dynatrace, Thousand Eyes, Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Prometheus, Google Cloud Platform Monitoring )
  • Proficient in application and Windows & Linux server management, and related tools (Ansible, SaltStack, etc)
  • Experience with Atlassian tools Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, BitBucket, Github, Agile Frameworks
  • Experience with Python, Java, C#, .Net core applications
  • Experience in building Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Understanding of High Availability Enterprise systems and leveraging tools to automate proactively and eventually predictive availability solutions
  • Experience in delivering solutions on public (Google Cloud Platform, AWS) and private cloud (VMWare Tanzu, Pivotal Cloud Foundry) platforms
  • Receptive, approachable teammate, with the ability to positively interact with business partners, technology teams, offshore, and professional services
  • Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
