Role: SQL Server Data/BI Engineer w/Power BILocation: Houston, TXDuration: 12+ Monthsand .Responsibilities:
- Gather, document, and prioritize business requirements and assist in developing solution design specifications
- Identify systems of record for key enterprise data, define data cleansing and completeness processes for source systems
- Analyze and validate data warehouse contents (key dimensions and facts) relative to source enterprise systems
- Coordinate with technical team in specifying data needs for solutions and provide associated ETL requirements for Data Warehouse, Data Mart, SharePoint List, or other structured data sources.
- Advise leadership in establishing and refining a firm wide Analytics governance and adoption strategy
- Provide thought leadership, best practices, and standards related to effectively managing an analytics technology platform based on Power BI and an Enterprise Data Warehouse
- Advise on approaches to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of solutions based on quantitative usage data and qualitative discussions with end-users and business stakeholders
- Manage business performance of existing reporting solutions and analytics infrastructure
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements; May coach, mentor or provide guidance within or across teams in appropriate use of Microsoft analytics technologies
- Work closely with cross-functional teams of business users, application vendors, outside consultants, developers and IT infrastructure engineers, to drive changes based on opportunities identified
- Support process-improvement related IT initiatives, including experimentation in infrastructure-building and methodology standardization
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, independently organize, plan & prioritize individual effort needed to ensure overall success of cross-functional projects.
- 4+ years of experience around Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or Software Engineering data-intensive applications
- 2+ years of solid experience working with relational databases
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and preferably Microsoft Analytics technologies (Power BI, DAX, Power Query, SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Reporting Services)
- Advanced knowledge of data management concepts and techniques, including Data Warehouse, Data Marts, ETL, Data Governance and associated best practices
- Experience with M365 technologies (Power Apps, Power Automate, Teams, SharePoint) and how they can used in conjunction with Power BI to provide comprehensive solutions
- Experience with programming preferred (Python, C#)
- Experience with git or other version control systems preferred
- Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze and resolve complex problems using data
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to convey complex messages clearly and with conviction
- Team player with strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
