Your OpportunityAs Manager of Software Development Engineering for Schwab Order Management System, you will be managing an organization of 10 to 15 individuals, process, and quality of service improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of resources across teams. Work closely with your developers, product, design, and other engineering leads to define the strategy, agreement priorities, and cultivate a highly collaborative and effective cross-functional team. The technical scope includes the core client experience, overall serving stack, application performance, and system reliability.The ideal candidate will be passionate about building high performing teams and solving the toughest software challenges; you'll be excited by working at huge scales, and you'll have a proven record of delivering highly operable and maintainable software projects on time. You'll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with and you'll be constantly looking for ways to make the systems you own better. - Provide technical vision and strategy for the team; design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap, balancing short- and long-term technology investments.
- Partner closely with Development teams, Product Management and other Engineering teams to create, drive, and deliver an innovative, compelling, and user-friendly experience to our customers.
- Build and lead an outstanding engineering team to innovate, invent, implement, and deploy complex software solutions in a commercial, mission-critical environment.
- Unlock roadblocks at corporate level and cultivate collaboration with senior technologists across Schwab Technology Services through leadership, creativity, intelligence, and presence.
- Develop and grow talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning and retention strategies for key talent in a fast growth, highly competitive environment.

- 5+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience
- Hands-on experience building scalable backend systems and platform
- 8+ years of experience building scalable backend systems and platform with .NET / Java technologies
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science/Information Systems or Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience in finance industry is preferred
