A strong knowledge of Hydraulic Cylinders is key to being successful in this position. A Sr. Mechanical Engineer must be able to work independently and have strong communications skills. These skills are essential to maintain project timelines, collaborate with team members and communicate with stake holders. Job Responsibilities include:
- Design and develop hydraulic cylinders using industry standards and internal specifications.
- Able to work with team members internally and externally with our customers on new and existing applications.
- Possess a strong technical understanding of mobile hydraulics.
- Working knowledge of materials used in the design of cylinders: carbon steel, hydraulic seals, cartridge valves and wear rings.
- Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following industry and internal standards.
- Must have a strong attention to detail to peer review designs and ensure manufacturability.
- Use Daily Management to ensure projects are delivered on time, issues are resolved by understanding root cause, and countermeasures are effectively implemented.
- Understands the principles of lean manufacturing (maximize our value to our customers).
- Experience with engineering CAD and analysis tools (CREO, ANSYS, Windchill etc.).
- Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and other departments written and orally.
- Develop DFMEAs and subsequent Test plans in order to mitigate design risks.
- Understanding of industry standards (ASTM, ASME, ANSI, ABS, DNV etc).
- Develop engineering sketches, specifications and related data in order to determine design factors such as size, shape and layout of new designs.
- Manages new product development projects and timelines.
- Ensures projects are kept on time and within budget, identifies potential setbacks to achieving this goal and develops viable solutions.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Finance in order to ensure designs are streamlined for manufacturability through design reviews.
- Evaluate and approve designs and specification changes through continuous improvement
- Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
- Prepares interim and completion project reports.
- Handles material review board responsibilities for product engineering.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- 5+ years of experience in hydraulic cylinder or system design.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate written and orally with customers, suppliers, and internally.
- Demonstrated history of proactive ability to embrace multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimum guidance.
- P.E License or Certified Fluid Power Engineer (CFPE) preferred but not required.
