A bit about us:We are a custom manufacturer of fluid power components with over 50 years in business!The Senior Mechanical Engineer must have fluent knowledge of mobile hydraulic circuits, and a proven work history of designing hydraulic components. A strong knowledge of Hydraulics is key to being successful in this position. Experience with engineering CAD and analysis tools (CREO, ANSYS, Windchill etc.) is a HUGE plus as well!

Job DetailsJob ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop hydraulic cylinders using industry standards and internal specificationsAble to work with team members internally and externally with our customers on new and existing applications.Possess a strong technical understanding of mobile hydraulicsWorking knowledge of materials used in the design of cylinders: carbon steel, hydraulic seals, cartridge valves and wear ringsReview, develop, and prepare project documentation following industry and internal standardsMust have a strong attention to detail to peer review designs and ensure manufacturabilityUse Daily Management to ensure projects are delivered on time, issues are resolved by understanding root cause, and countermeasures are effectively implementedUnderstands the principles of lean manufacturing (maximize our value to our customers)Experience with engineering CAD and analysis tools (CREO, ANSYS, Windchill etc.)Effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and other departments written and orally.Develop DFMEAs and subsequent Test plans in order to mitigate design risksUnderstanding of industry standards (ASTM, ASME, ANSI, ABS, DNV etc)Develop engineering sketches, specifications and related data in order to determine design factors such as size, shape and layout of new designs.Manages new product development projects and timelines.Ensures projects are kept on time and within budget, identifies potential setbacks to achieving this goal and develops viable solutionsWork with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality and Finance in order to ensure designs are streamlined for manufacturability through design reviewsEvaluate and approve designs and specification changes through continuous improvementControls expenditures within limitations of project budget.Prepares interim and completion project reports.Handles material review board responsibilities for product engineering.Other duties as assignedRequirements:Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in hydraulic cylinder or system designStrong ability to effectively communicate written and orally with customers, suppliers, and internallyDemonstrated history of proactive ability to embrace multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimum guidanceP.E License or Certified Fluid Power Engineer (CFPE) preferred but not requiredLegally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorshipExperience:Product Development - Includes hydraulic product planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; Takes responsibility for development activities; Makes self-available to supporting staff;Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information using engineering best practices and toolsProject Management - Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Manages project team activities.Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to scalability; Demonstrates knowledge of software and systems.Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Development software; Design software; Internet software; Project Management software and Database software.Work Environment:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
