Job DetailsOur client is looking for a Senior Engineer - Emissions and OBD Compliance to join our engineering team in Austin. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the trucking industry. We are seeking exceptionally talented individuals that are highly motivated to revolutionize an industry, reduce the use of fuel and have some fun. You will be joining an experienced engineering team in the design, simulation, implementation, and testing of electrical powertrain systems.Essential Job Functions:Lead emissions and OBD compliance activities and have complete ownership of emissions and OBD certificationDevelop engineering requirements based on regulatory requirements and work closely with all engineering teams to develop compliant productsProvide technical support to the engineering teams according to the requirements and guidelines outlined in the regulationsResponsible for creating the test plans as per EPA and CARB regulatory requirementsWork closely with OBD engineers to ensure test completeness, accuracy, and compliance to testing regulationsReview OBD field demonstration test data to ensure integrity and completeness, and prepare official reports for the regulatorsManage and document OBD-related running changes to the product in the field per regulatory requirementsCompile documentation for emissions related systems and components, and OBD monitorsSupport compliance activities that include but are not limited to In Use Testing (IUT), Manufacturer Self-Test (MST), In Use Monitor Performance Ratio (IUMPR)Engage with validation teams and support Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing, engine dynamometer emissions testing, OBD monitor demonstration testing, data collection and analysisLead the discussions with regulators at CARB and EPAProvide inputs to the simulation teams on the drive cycles as per regulatory requirementsReview industry and legal documents for issues relevant to the company, summarizing such documents for efficient communication to the organizationCreate and present reports with documentation of technical analysisReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Complete understanding of Diesel/CNG engines, combustion systems and exhaust aftertreatment systems on Class 8 TrucksUnderstanding of powertrain systems including ICE, hybrid, and full electricPrior experience on Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing and data analysisPrior experience in full hybrid vehicle/conventional powertrain certification programsWorking knowledge of CFR title 40, Parts 1036 and 1037Understanding of the impact of hybrid powertrain design on the generation of CO2Understanding of the vehicle level design features and the impact they have on CO2 generationExpertise with Diesel and CNG emissions measurement from both engine dynamometer and chassis dynamometer testingUnderstanding of EPA 40 CFR Part 1065 and 1066 regulations with regards to facility, equipment, and testing proceduresGood knowledge on Title 13 CCR Section 1971.1 CARB OBD RequirementsExperience in requirement management and with requirements management software such as JamaRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering4+ Years of Experience in relevant engineering rolesExperience leading technical projects including managing schedules and setting key project tasks/milestonesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in EngineeringExperience in Class-8 trucks, their sub-systems, and application requirementsOther Qualifications:Strong follow-through and self-starting natureAbility to communicate with customers (internal and external) in an effective and positive way both written and verbally, to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitmentsAbility to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructionsPosition will involve travel (10-15% of time) to visit, work with, and evaluate engineering providers and hardware suppliersAbility to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlinesPhysical Demands: Occasionally lift and/ or move up to 30 pounds.Benefits: Medical Plans, with PPO or HDHP optionsDental Plans, with buy-up optionVision PlanLife Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Plans, with buy-up optionsShort Term Disability, paid for by the companyLong Term Disability, paid for by the companyFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Health Savings Account (HSA)401kVoluntary Accident PlansVoluntary Critical Illness PlansInterested in hearing more?
