Role: Business Data AnalystLocation: Westlake, TX (1 Week onsite/Month)Duration: 12+ MonthsW2 Only Must Haves:SQL, Data Analysis (need to be able to deep dive into data and find solutions to data issues, ability to understand database schema ) Good understanding and experience with complex relational database schemas and SQL management tools Automation (very early in this work, do not have a tool identified) – any experience in automation would be helpful We need someone who works independently and see the bigger picture/figure out next steps and drive the process. Must have good follow-through and ability to identify/lead the team. (Replacing current contractor due to “lack of drive” – has the right skills, but did not have the leadership capabilities to drive/lead the project) The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree required, with outstanding skills for business systems design and solutions
- 10+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst with software application development
- Working knowledge of REST, SOAP, JSON and APIs is nice to have
- Highly effective written and verbal communication is a must
- Demonstrable experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and programming in general
- Good understanding and experience with complex relational database schemas and SQL management tools
- Solid grasp of data and database concepts, tools, and technologies
- Ability to interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing insights
- Strong analysis skills in the form of research, gap analysis, and data profiling
- Ability to break down and detail the flow of data from origination to multiple points of consumption
- Bring a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translating strategic objectives into action, and prioritizing value delivered
- Deep understanding of Agile development methodologies
- Ability to distill business processes and objectives into well-defined epics/stories/requirements
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability to effectively tackle complex business problems
- Ability to work through ambiguous situations by making timely decisions based on facts, knowledge, experience, and judgment
- Desire to be organized, highly adaptable and committed to quality
- Provide systems analysis support on an Agile team that includes multiple business and technology partners (cross business unit, cross domain).
- Own the definition of acceptance criteria, dependencies, and scope of work to be performed.
- Work with business and technology partners to define the scope of problems/issues, in terms of business and/or system requirements and processes.
- Work with Agile team to develop user stories, acceptance criteria, and story maps.
- Lead backlog refinement sessions. Translate complex business needs into clear, practical, requirements/user stories. Research and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Evaluate design of existing systems to judge their functionality, efficiency, reliability, performance, usage, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
- Collaborate with Agile team members to build comprehensive and cohesive solution approaches.
- Assist in devising the Agile team’s analysis strategy.
- Provide support in estimating, planning, scheduling, and prioritizing work.
- Apply documentation standards and best practices.
- Provide thought leadership to better Systems Analysis Chapter Area
