Job DetailsThis position will primarily involve ecological (stream and wetland) restoration design, geomorphic assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, and task management of water resources projects. This position requires inter-disciplinary coordination across the company and commitment to our growing company's philosophy, culture and core values. Primary Duties:The Restoration Designer/Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of design and engineering related work, including:
  • Assist with ecosystem restoration designs and support mitigation plan reports,
  • Assist with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and calculations, watershed planning and analysis, and stormwater management,
  • Assist with environmental permit applications including 401/404, SWPPP, FEMA, and erosion and sedimentation control plans,
  • Ability to work in the field collecting data, conducting site assessments and perform monitoring activities,
  • Assist with construction plan preparation, technical specifications, construction quantities and cost estimates,
  • Provide construction oversight of restoration projects to ensure plan compliance and implementation.
Education and Experience:Minimum BS degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering or related technical discipline with minimum 5 years of experience (professional registration or licensure a plus)
  • Practical knowledge of fluvial geomorphology, stormwater management, sediment transport analysis, natural stream channel and wetland systems design,
  • Practical experience with field surveying techniques and data collection methods using GPS and Total Station,
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCad Civil 3D), 1D and 2D Hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS or SRH2D, Hydrologic modeling software such as HEC-HMS or SWMM, RIVERMorph, HydroCAD, ESRI/ArcGIS and MS software applications,
  • Relevant experience with local, state, and federal regulations and environmental permitting requirements,
  • Relevant coursework or specialized training such as Rosgen Certification
(Levels I - IV or NCSU River Courses preferred),
  • A proven history of managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and budgetary goals,
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and technical writing skills,
  • Valid driver's license and authorized to work in the US,
  • Ability to work variable weather/field conditions with some overnight travel,
