Our firm has been exclusively retained to help support the growth of one of the largest retailers in the music industry. Currently, they are looking for a technical Product Manager to join their Marketing team and take the lead on managing their suite of SaaS specialty products.

The Role You’ll PlayAs a member of the Marketing team, this newly created role will be responsible for gathering business and customer requirements and defining and executing the products’ growth strategy. This involves building a product profile and lifecycle as well as pricing, positioning, marketing, and sales strategies. The Product Manager provides visibility to management on product status, forecasts, and results. This will also involve managing a small team dedicated to the success of these SaaS products.
  • Monitor the Voice of Customer (school music programs, composers, etc.) and KPIs for the service product portfolio
  • Meet and work with product teams for each service product
  • Communicate with departments on opportunities and challenges with service products
  • Monitor competitors to the product (SWOT, changes in the competitive landscape, create response scenarios)
  • Work with stakeholders, development, and project management on issues impacting the service product’s success.
  • Monitor marketing and sales response. Adjust programs based on customer behavior.
  • Provide objective analysis of a potential market opportunity to provide a basis for investment and feature delivery.
  • Create a product lifecycle plan and relay that plan to management quarterly. Include revenue growth, opportunities, challenges, competitive research, Voice of Customer, efforts to scale the business, and sales and marketing efforts.
  • Develop the product positioning and pricing strategy.
  • Gather customer feedback to prioritize product development.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and feature releases.
  • Own the prioritization backlog for SaaS products.
  • Evaluate and communicate resources needed to meet product development goals.
  • Implement marketing and sales plans and messaging to ensure they are consistent with the product strategy.
  • Set and monitor metrics and KPIs for managed products.
  • Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding.

Background Profile: MS/BS degree in marketing, business, or equivalent discipline with 5+ years of experience in a Product Marketing role for a Software / SaaS product. Experience working within, and passion for, the music industry with a strategic marketing mind and an understanding of the software product development lifecycle.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management.
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
