Powell’s Books, the world’s largest independent bookstore, has openings for Part-Time Generalist positions at our SE Hawthorne store. The generalist positions are part of a team involved in a variety of tasks, including:

Cashiering

Customer Service

Shelving

The successful candidates will have a strong and demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service, adaptability and flexibility, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated experience ensuring accuracy in their work, and attention to detail.

This position requires you to have had an original Covid-19 vaccination series with one booster, or a bivalent Covid-19 vaccine, or to have an approved medical or religious accommodation prior to your start date.

The starting wage for these positions is $15.45 per hour, with a wage increase to $17.00 effective the first day of the pay period following the 31st calendar day from hire.

Schedules are regular and consistent and will include one or both weekend days with evening shifts ending at 9pm.
