Director of Finance

Position Announcement: Director of Finance

William Temple House was created in 1965 to provide high quality mental health counseling to our Portland neighbors regardless of their ability to pay. Since that time, we’ve provided life-affirming care to thousands of individuals and families from our location in NW Portland while also helping train hundreds of master's level interns from some of our region’s most respected universities. Over the past three years, over 95% of participants in our intern program have continued serving Portland and other Oregon communities. Our food pantry and social services team help meet the needs of thousands of additional Portlanders and their families every year. We are proud of our history and also eager to write the next chapter.

We are committed to:

● Expanding our mental health counseling and social services to meet the changing needs of our diverse Portland community.

● Helping build the next generation of diverse, highly skilled, professional counselors through our competitive graduate internship program.

Are you ready to lead us to the next level?

Portland is in a mental health and poverty crisis – which has its roots in a long history of social injustice and discrimination. At William Temple House we are ready to do more and to do better. ○ Continued development of equitable, living wage jobs for our staff

○ Reach more Portlanders with our urgently needed services

○ Refine our diversity-focused graduate intern stipends

○ A long-term transition away from unpaid internships for our +20 graduate interns.

● Maximize the performance of our current revenue streams and develop at least one new stream to ensure long-term, sustainable growth.

○ Our current model rests on:

■ a solid history of individual and foundation fundraising,

■ Net proceeds from a long-standing, popular thrift store and

■ Return on investments equal to roughly 8 months of operating expenses.

● Potential new revenue streams include the possibility of accepting some forms of health insurance and/or government grants.

As the new Director of Finance, you will collaborate with the Leadership Team to achieve our long-term goals. You will exercise full responsibility for the financial health of our organization, providing a solid foundation for our current operations and our aspirations for the future.
