As a Senior Reefer Tech, you'll oversee and participate in the diagnostic, repair, and maintenance work on the HVAC system of the tractor and trailer equipment ensuring adherence to safe working practices and procedures. The Senior Reefer Tech provides training and mentoring to mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, AC, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

Advises supervisor immediately if additional work is needed or if repairs cannot be completed within

the Standard Repair Times (SRTs).

Performs preventive maintenance and ensures the timely and effective repair of any problems identified during an inspection.

Determines the extent of necessary repairs, scheduling of repairs, and associated cost and material estimates. Utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.

Leads, assigns, and inspects the work of subordinates and participates in all associated work; verifies work performed for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications; ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures.

Recommends procedures, methods, and materials to staff on complex projects as assigned.

Trains Team Members in maintenance and repair methods, procedures, and techniques on the HVAC system.

Reads and interprets schematics, shop manuals, and other related materials in performing work assignments and to stay abreast of the current technology.

Estimates time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts.

Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program.

Requirements:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Completion of an accredited diesel technician program is preferred.

CMV 609 A/C Certified diagnosis and repair.

Must possess mechanical aptitude along with a minimum of 5 years of experience working on Refers as a fleet maintenance technician and/or OEM Refer trained tech.

In-depth experience with practices, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in the diagnosis, repair, preventative maintenance, and modification of a wide variety of technical equipment, including Tractor, Trailers and other equipment apparatus and their component systems.

CDL preferred.

Excellent knowledge of all types and use of special tools and electronic test equipment common to the automotive repair trade.

Ability and desire to keep apprised of current technology in repairing and diagnosing vehicles, equipment, and their component systems.

Strong knowledge of the procedures used in the repair and maintenance of gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

In-depth knowledge of regulations, standards and guidelines pertaining to the work, including state and federal inspection guidelines.

Ability to follow all motor vehicle rules and regulations involved in the safe operation of all vehicles owned by Casey's.

Must be available after-hours for calls to repair equipment. Must be able to travel up to 15% of the year.
