VP, Engineering

USEReady is seeking a VP, Engineering in NY City! Ideal candidate will be a passionate thought-leader that is experienced with building engineering teams and processes and adept at creating elegant, future-facing experiences, and technologies. Develop technology solutions, working closely with a variety of stakeholders. Be eager to take on an array of responsibilities spanning technology execution and strategy. Understand the importance of working cross-functionally and thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Must be local or be able to relocate to NY City as the expectation is to be in the office

• Build a team of thoughtful, passionate, collaborative engineers to help scale Away's digital presence and data architecture.
• Own architectural design and engineering across all digital properties.
• Serve as a key tactical and strategic technology representative within the organization.
• Push and refine our technology, user experience, and creative practices.
• Collaborate with talented designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to build and plan new features for Away web properties, including both e-commerce and editorial experiences.
• Develop, implement, and socialize engineering best practices and standards.
• Guide teams to write robust, well-designed software that delivers great value to the business and is easy to maintain.
• Own our data architecture and data warehouse technology, continuing to extend data as a strategic asset to support our mission critical operational reporting, analytics and data science capabilities.
• Own our integration architecture and data pipelines including building a team to architect and implement a robust, scalable integration architecture and data pipelines to improve the flow of data across our systems.
• Establish and guide a quality assurance team to modernize and mature our systems delivery capabilities.
• Own, scale, and mature our site reliability and cloud infrastructure engineering team and practices to ensure efficient and scalable site operations and performance
• Lead through others with a heavy focus on managing managers, building a team of engineering leaders, broadening and maturing engineering practices, and leading the overall engineering organization by example.

• Experienced, with 10 years of working on consumer-facing web applications in a professional environment, ideally with strong working knowledge of best-in-class front-end architectures and back-end eCommerce platforms and familiarity with data warehouses (e.g., Redshift) and integration (e.g. Boomi) technologies.
• A seasoned leader with experience scaling departments, running teams, and working with distributed teams.
• A clear communicator that can reduce ambiguity and promote transparency with team members and co-workers.
• Agile in your approach to software development and excited about continuous integration and zero-downtime deployments.
• An admirer of beautiful code and with a passion for refactoring and refining applications.
• Knowledgeable of AWS, Heroku, or similar IaaS or PaaS providers.
• Eager to create a culture of mentorship and thought leadership within Engineering.
