In-Home Healthcare Aide

HIRING IN-HOME HEALTHCARE AIDE / CNA / HELPER

I am looking to hire another CNA/In-home health/personal aide to help me around my house in Lansing, NY.

I am a disabled GWM 51 years old with Muscular Dystrophy. I try to be as independent as possible - but mobility issues require I use a power wheelchair 24/7 and my arms getting weaker and weaker to where reaching/grabbing anything difficult. I have an accessible van - but no longer drive - so having a valid driver's license would be helpful - to drive me to .

Experience would be great but not required. More interested in finding someone I can feel comfortable with/good fit. We can both learn as we go. Very easy going guy - just losing ability to do things myself.

Must be motivated, work independently (see something that needs to be picked up, cleaned, put away and just do it) and as part of a care team. Reliability is most important - can pick hours but need to know will work them.

Two daily shifts - a morning (8:00am - noon, roughly) an evening (7:00-11:00pm) 7 days a week. (Flexible)

Morning Shift:

- Help me out of bed (with Hoyer lift) into wheelchair

- Helping into/out of shower (with Hoyer lift)

- Dressing, combing hair, brushing teeth

- Getting breakfast - coffee/cereal

- Feeding dogs

- Loading/unloading the dishwasher, lite cleaning, vacuuming/picking up…

- Driving me in my accessible van to store/Doc appt., etc.

Evening Shift:

- Helping me get changed/incontinence (in/out of bed)

- General help around the house

- Lite yard work, watering flowers, shoveling snow

- Grocery shopping; dinner prep/clean up

- Feeding dogs

- Help into bed(with Hoyer lift) from wheelchair

Must love dogs - I do dog sitting so I often have several dogs over. Welcome to bring yours to work.

Will need transportation - about 10 miles from Downtown Ithaca. Just moved into new house / doing finishing work over the winter months. Not near bus route - so having transportation helpful.

$18/hour via Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) and local Homecare provider company. Will need to get a general physical and TB test - cost is reimbursed.

Very relaxed work environment - I am very easy going, just need reliable help. Everything else we can figure out as we go.

Recently moved into new 3 bedroom ADA home. Room available for rent.

Option 1: $500/month all inclusive.

Option 2: Negotiate rent amount based on availability to help me. Help into/out of bed, occasional night assistance rolling over/reposition me, help with dogs, finishing house/paint.
