Jackalope (Global House, Inc) is a unique and extraordinary shopping destination with stores in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We specialize in eclectic but beautiful pottery, garden and home décor from around the globe. Collaboration, teamwork and a customer-centric focus are the critical qualities we want from our managers and our staff. You will not be bored. There is tons to do and lots to learn. But we are a slow paced, brick and mortar operation.

About You:

You are motivated and have a track record of building and sustaining a great team. You are willing to work in a unique home & garden themed retail environment (lots of different product lines but still a small family owned business). Your work will be challenging but rewarding. You are independent and can think on your feet. Your communication skills are excellent and your employee management skills even better. Most days are chill, slow and steady at Jackalope. Some days, especially Spring and Summer weekends, are buzzing.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will hire, on board, train, develop and supervise staff. Adjust and manage staffing (and schedule) to meet customer needs and control expenditures.

Manage inventory levels - oversee inventory stocking, reordering, and receiving inventory. Work and collaborate with department leads, management team and ownership.

Prepare store and staff for sales & promotions, seasonal changes, and new product arrivals.

Ensure a high level of customer service is provided to all customers at all times.

Solve problems, think on your feet, take action. Lead by example. Cross train staff and assign projects during slow periods.

Create and maintain a safe work environment. Ensure store compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Address and manage facility operations.

Experience:

Successful candidate must have a minimum of 5 years full-time experience of which three must be in RETAIL.

Successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years retail management experience - which includes: inventory management, general store operations, POS management and troubleshooting, and nearly all aspects of HR (interviewing, hiring, coaching & training, counseling, performance evaluations, and terminating employees).

Background in home décor and/or nursery is a huge plus.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (or equivalent) and must have strong written and verbal skills.

Additional:

This is a working manager position with direct employee and customer interaction. This is NOT a desk job.

Jackalope is open 7 days a week and on most holidays.

Our hours of operation are 9 am - 6 pm (5 pm in the winter).

This is a full-time in person position. New Manager is expected to work both Saturday & Sunday (and three additional days). Exact schedule TBD. Some flexibility.

Experience in social media and/or advertising is a huge plus.

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Candidate must be able to stand (and walk) for most of the work day.

Candidate must routinely and repeatedly lift up to 15-20 lbs and occasionally be able push up to 40 lbs.

Candidate must have reliable transportation to and from work AND be able to travel to Albuquerque, NM approximately one time per month.

Salary: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year (+ first year bonus guarantee). Actual salary based on experience.
