Sr. Data Modeler

JSR's direct financial client is looking for a Sr. Data Modeler to join a diverse team dedicated to providing best in class data services to our customers, stakeholders, and partners. The individual collaborates closely with business stakeholders and IT customers, product team, developers, and application designers to understand the business and data requirements to create logical and physical data models for complex designs and solutions. This is a strategic role and will have significant influence in data governance, data quality and enterprise shared data initiatives. The role will work as liaison between business, product and IT groups in building and reimagining mission critical financial applications. Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for designing, developing and deploying database models.
• Thorough understanding of conceptual, logical and physical models, optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects
• Develop data models based on architectural direction and assist in defining and enforcing data modeling standards, and foundational best practices.
• Set the strategy and repeatable process for maintaining the Data model using automation
• Facilitate JAD (Joint Application Development) sessions for transforming and mapping business and/or user requirements to conceptual and logical data models
• As part of the modeling exercise provide guidance for data quality identification and implementing data governance principles in an enterprise data services environment
• Apply and define naming and metadata standards, maintain data model repository, and document data model decisions to ensure consistency of data models
• Responsible for reviewing and approving data model designs for objects entering the client's production environment
• Implement shared service data projects, delivering data requirements, data mapping and transformation, data migration and reconciliation
• Integrate data modeling principles and practices with agile and waterfall software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Provide vision and direction to develop data models with forward-looking info security, regulatory and legal compliance with data protection policies.

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience as a Data Modeler/Analyst/architect
• Minimum 10 years of experience in data domain
• Minimum of 5 years of strong hands-on experience building and implementing large scale data models in a complex heterogeneous data environment.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience with Logical Design demonstrated with large scale, multiple business solutions across various LOBs within the enterprise
• Expert knowledge of data modeling tools like Erwin, ER Studio, PowerDesigner etc. along with SQL
• Hands-on modeling experience with SQL RDBMS database engines such as Oracle, DB2, Postgres, etc. and "NewSQL/NOSQL databases like Redshift, Cassandra, MongoDB, Hive etc. and microservices design principles
• Experience with Data Governance and change management process
• Experience with deployment of database changes through a well-defined process
• Strong analytical skills, self-starter and a strong attention to detail
• Customer-focused ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
• Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration and consulting skills, ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
• Data modeling experience with financial services like brokerage, securities, payments etc. a huge plus
