Job DetailsESSENTIAL Duties & Responsibilities

• Establish basic design criteria and specifications for all plumbing and fire protection systems, and work the assigned contracts. Reviews projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget.
• Perform design, layout, and checking of drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job federal, state and local standards and codes.
• Develop specifications, assign area classifications, and review shop drawing submissions to ensure that they comply with necessary codes and standards, correct materials specifications, the project design intent and any other specific guidelines set forth for the job.
• Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings, and provide field construction support, as required.
• Implement training development of designers and draftspersons as assigned to projects.
• Assist the PM in proposal development, client management and overall project execution.

REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements.
• Strong working knowledge and utilization of Autocad, Revit experience is a plus.
• Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards is a plus.
• Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
• Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English

MINIMUM Education & Experience

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor or Master degree in related field
• Minimum 7 years professional experience with proven progression in plumbing and fire protection design with an emphasis on sustainable/green building.
• Experience in executing a design projects with Autodesk Autocad or Revit and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred
