Senior Platform Engineer

job summary:Randstad Technologies is in search of a Senior Platform Engineer for an exciting opportunity with an industry leading emplyer. The Senior Platform will focuses on delivering platforms and improving developer experience. They will automate processes and develop self-service capabilities around infrastructure and application delivery. They help coach team members and serve as an escalation point for junior engineers. location: KANSAS CITY, Missourijob type: Permanentsalary: $120,000 - 140,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelors responsibilities:

• Uses DevOps practices and thinking to guide automation efforts across infrastructure provisioning and application delivery and deployment activities. Works to increase deployment frequency, decrease failure change rate, decrease the mean time to recover (MTTR), and decrease lead time.
• Writes and reviews code to provision infrastructure and deploy applications.
• Focuses on customer service and using empathy to improve developer experience. Builds trust with teams to help advise them about new practices. Relentlessly works to eliminate pain points and remove process bottlenecks.
• Breaks down work for other team members and assists with clarifying and articulating requirements. Comfortable with ambiguity and change.
• Collaboratively assesses and evaluates tools that improve developer productivityespecially focusing on tools that are part of CI/CD processes that improve the speed and safety of deployment pipelines through the software development lifecycle.
• Uses SLOs (service level objectives) to define SLIs (service level indicators) to observe application and infrastructure health. Uses that data for troubleshooting infrastructure and applications.
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree computer science, management information systems or related field. Applicable years of experience maybe substituted for degree requirement.
• Minimum 8 years of experience required
• Experience building cloud infrastructure in AWS, GCP, or Azure. Prefer experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) tools like Terraform or Pulumi for provisioning resources.
• Experience scripting tasks using Bash, Python, PowerShell, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience with Git and workflows for reviewing and releasing code.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking, DNS, and Certificate management
• Experience with CI/CD processes and tools for building and deploying application code.
• Experience administering and using Linux and Kubernetes
• Able to perform IT work or leads team to perform work.
• Good communication with team and customer.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
