Transit Associate
JOB SUMMARY: Transit Ambassadors provide a professional and courteous presence to assist Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) passengers and the public in navigating the DTA transit system, and to enhance customer confidence in overall cleanliness, safety and positive experiences throughout DTA facilities and vehicles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide customers with information regarding transit routes, schedules, destinations and operating hours
Provide assistance with the MyDTA mobile ticketing application in planning, purchase and tracking of trips through mobile or electronic devices
Conducting high-visibility patrols and monitoring of DTA facilities throughout assigned shifts to; proactively answer customer questions, to deter unwanted behaviors and report activities or circumstances requiring response from police, fire or facilities management.
Create written reports on incidents as requested
Enhancing appearance of DTA facilities through removal of litter in public spaces both inside and outside.
Replicate these services, as directed, at selected DTA transit stops.
Gathering and reporting of customer feedback to DTA leadership through both verbal and written formats.
REQUIREMENTS:
Professionalism – While conducting all DTA business, presents self as calm, confident and knowledgeable. Is able to calmly de-escalate displays of disruptive behavior in or on DTA property and relates positively to all individuals utilizing DTA facilities and services.
Physical Abilities – Able to fulfill the demands of walking and standing for significant periods while conducting patrols and assisting the public. Is able to lift reasonable amounts of weight (up to 50 pounds) without difficulty. Able to climb stairways without difficulty.
Communication – Able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, respectful and professional demeanor with customers, co-workers and DTA leadership as well as be able to produce written communications, time cards and reports, as required.
