  • Work as key mechanical designer for project to achieve project and product development in time and in quality through the whole product life cycle.
  • Responsible for mechanical development activities for project, concept design and verification, conduct design reviews, risk assessment. Review the design documentation and design output for accuracy. Lead the mechanical integration aspects of new product development.
  • Provide technical support and guidance for the resolution of project issues, lead the trouble shooting and seek improvement solutions.
  • Uses CAD systems, preferred PTC/Creo, to communicate designs and communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for per customer requirements, and for Harman management reviews, peers, and direct reports, as necessary.
  • Realize and work out the mechanical related content for RFI and RFQ-Phases
  • Support departmental initiatives and activities as directed by the department supervisor.
  • Mentor other engineers with technical expertise.
  • Cross functional cooperation with other departments (e.g. Hardware, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, etc) during the development process in an international environment.
  • Technical communication with supplier regarding technical topics, especially feasibility study, DFM, sample quality and improvement.
  • Follow current mechanical development process and also contribute to process improvement.
  • Contribute to design standard/guideline creation and improvement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the field of automotive electronics engineering.
  • Expertise in mechanical development of automotive electronic product, multimedia product experience is highly preferred.
  • Consolidated knowledge of plastic injection parts, sheet-metal, diecast and related tooling and 2nd process.
  • Working knowledge of FEA and DFMEA/ DRBFM techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the automotive OEM product design and development process.
  • Expert level understanding of electronics packaging and ability to mitigate EMC and thermal issues.
  • Thorough understanding of general 3D design and drafting practices. Experience and knowledge in applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles
  • Demonstrates the ability to transition from theoretical to implementation based thinking. Very strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize mechanical designs for cost.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced global automotive design and manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to transition from theoretical to implementation-based thinking. Very strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
