Position Summary

James F. Mullen, an ISO9001 Certified company, is a precision manufacturer of parts and assemblies for turbine engines and for Aerospace capabilities. We are scaling up our Production teams to manage our double-digit growth. We are currently seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic / Press Brake Operator with set up experience. The successful candidate must be flexible, operate independently, collaborate across multiple teams, communicate well, and be highly organized.

Responsibilities:

Operates a press brake to manufacture tools, equipment, and other components from sheet metal or metal plates.

Prepares, sets up, and adjusts press brake as required by product plans and production schedules.

Measures and aligns materials to be used.

Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.

Maintains a clean work area.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Machine Setup: Prepare the brake press for operation by selecting the appropriate tooling, installing dies, and making necessary adjustments to ensure accurate bending angles and dimensions.

Quality Control: Use precision measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to monitor the production process to verify that each component meets the specified dimensions and tolerances. Inspect tooling for damage or wear and report findings to supervisor.

Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery. Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize safety hazards.

Problem Solving: Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process, such as machine malfunctions or irregularities in the bending process. Collaborate with supervisors and engineering to resolve problems promptly.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production output, machine settings, and any issues encountered during the process. Provide feedback to supervisors and engineering teams for process improvement.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in discussions and initiatives aimed at improving production processes, tooling designs, and operational efficiency.

Experience level:

Minimum 10 years experience forming complex shapes from superalloys using press brakes, roller, hydraulic presses, etc.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to safely load tooling and perform machine set-ups.

Must have own tools.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings and follow production plans.

Basic computer and math skills.

Education:

Technical or vocational training in metal fabrication or a related field is preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate.
