Position Summary
James F. Mullen, an ISO9001 Certified company, is seeking a talented, self-driven and motivated Inspector to join our growing team. The successful candidate must be flexible, open to learning, collaborate across multiple teams, communicate well, and be highly organized. We are a precision manufacturer of parts and assemblies for electric turbine engines and for Aerospace capabilities. The role’s main responsibilities include product inspections, which include customer specifications, testing products for functionality and accuracy, and reporting any discrepancies and deficiencies. The ideal candidate should have excellent diligence, work in a team environment, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
Review paperwork and prepare final certification package, including Certificate of Conformance, dimensional report, all Certifications of Outside Vendors and material certifications, and any other forms required by the customer.
Measure objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests, and identifying defects.
Perform mechanical, dimensional and visual inspections for Incoming, In-Process, and Final Inspections.
Assure parts going to stock are properly marked for traceability to original paperwork.
Create final inspection reports.
Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure that operations meet customer requirements.
Recommend any necessary adjustments and changes to production processes.
Inspect and test the materials and equipment produced by the company.
Use gauges such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, pin gauges, and Optical Comparator to measure products.
Remove products that do not meet production standards and recommend strategies to improve product quality.
Document non-conformances to specifications via NCR (Non-Conformance Report) process
Accept or reject finished products and discuss inspection results with the production team.
Perform inspections at random to assess product quality.
Monitors the quality aspects of incoming raw materials to the organization and the products that are ready to be shipped. Also ensure that manufactured products meet the specified quality standards set by the organization before being sent to customers.
Carry out quality assessment measures of all the products ready to be shipped and incoming raw materials.
Take a thorough look at the plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand the product requirements.
Resolving quality-related issues and adhering to deadlines.
Prepare documentation of the inspection process, which includes detailed reports and performance records.
Recommend improvement measures to the production process to ensure quality control standards are met.
Experience level:
Minimum of 1 year of work experience in quality or in a precision metal manufacturing environment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Real-time experience with metal fabrication preferred
Experience with GD&T standards.
Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14 standards
Excellent documentation skills, mechanical and math skills.
Experience using Mic, Caliper, Height, Depth, Pin gauges and other mechanical inspection techniques.
Experience programming and running CMM a plus
Working knowledge of scanning technology (Faro or similar) a plus
Knowledge of quality control standards.
Proficiency communicating via email and MS Office products. (word, excel).
Education:
High School diploma or GED or equivalent courses and certifications.

6. Attention to Detail: A quality control inspector must be vigilant to identify the variances in products to meet specific standards and be aware of changes made to processes and functions.
7. Math Skills: A strong knowledge of math is essential in measuring and calculating specifications during product development.
