Overview: The Scrum Master will utilize applicable adaptations of Agile / SAFe practices, principles, and tools to plan, organize, monitor, and serve 1-2 scrum teams at any given time. The Scrum Master will champion the execution of the Scrum framework within their assigned teams. This position is a key member of a product delivery team, interacting with Product Owners, Analysts, Developers, QA testers, Architects, vendors, and more. Thus, supporting business applications by managing the designing, implementing, and modification of application programs by the feature development teams. Must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex requirements. Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs In addition, you will work with the broader Scrum & marketing teams. This position demands someone who is a self-starter, curious, detail-oriented, and a creative problem solver. Responsibilities Essential Functions:
- Guides the team and organization on how to use SAFe Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers
- Provides all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leads by example
- Removes impediments or guides the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
- Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaches the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
- Builds a trusting and safe environment where collaborative problem solving is encouraged
- Facilitates getting the work done without assigning, or dictating the work, but rather practices servant leadership to move the team forward.
- Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution techniques
- Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
- Supports and educated the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
- Mentors and trains other Scrum Masters on the train(s) as needed
- Bachelors degree in a related discipline, or combination of education and relevant experience
- SAFe certification
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I, CSM PSII etc.)
- At least (3) years playing the Scrum Master role for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
- Previous experience as a team lead a plus
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
- Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
- Applicable knowledge of the technologies used by the team Version One, DevOps, etc.
- Scrum Master experience for products leveraging Salesforce and / or HR ERP technologies (a plus)
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and complete projects on time
- Excellent written and verbal skills, ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
- Strong computer proficiency, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
