Small Engine Technician - Construction Equipment

Star Equipment, Ltd is seeking small engine technicians at our Des Moines location, 1401 2nd Ave. Star Equipment has 4 Iowa locations; Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and Ames. This position will be focusing on small engine equipment such as generators, concrete saws, power buggies, water pumps, plate compactors, light towers, mixers, and more.

The ideal applicant should be a self-starter with 2 years experience in small engines. We will train the right candidate in-house or at factory service schools for equipment that we carry.

Small Engine Technician Responsibilities:

Perform with minimum supervision equipment repairs in a timely manner.

Insure all safety procedures are followed and that fellow employees do the same.

Trouble shoot problems on all equipment using test equipment, tools, service manuals and service bulletins.

Utilize all departmental reference materials, service and parts manuals as needed to complete the job.

Continually study and upgrade proficiency in construction equipment trouble shooting and repair.

Keep your paperwork up-to-date at all times.

Think your job through and do it the best and most efficient way possible.

Own enough hand tools to facilitate completion of job tasks.

Personal Qualifications:

Demonstrate high degree of proficiency in equipment repair.

Ability to read and use reference materials, both on paper and on computer.

Ability to lift 100 lbs.

Ability to work as part of a team.
