Job Title: Systems Engineer/Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL

Contract Length: 6 months contract-to-hire

Job Description:

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Perform day to day systems administration activities to ensure performance, stability, and capacity of the IT infrastructure.
Collaborate with GBS IT Ops team to determine infrastructure requirements.
Assist with procuring IT infrastructure, support, and services consistent with GBS standards & guidelines.
Participate and represent the business/products during infrastructure incidents and participate in on call rotation.
Maintain and monitor procedures for server backups and restore capabilities.
Monitor, plan, and coordinate the distribution of server software, hot fixes, OS patches and service packs.
Maintain inventory for hardware and software resources including support agreements, licensing, etc.
Ability to document processes and procedures
Occasional Off-Hours availability

Job Qualifications:

Must have skills:

System Engineer support experience
Demonstrate the understanding of complex software architectures, and the ability to help enhance, support, and troubleshoot that architecture.
Demonstrate excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening), with the ability to build positive working relationships.
Demonstrate strong problem analysis, problem resolution, decision making and judgment skills.
Demonstrate the ability to understand technical business needs and translate into infrastructure requirements.
General understanding of IT related financials and budgets.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server, RHEL, and VMware.
Strong knowledge of Dell/EMC server and storage hardware.
Strong knowledge of backup/restore (Veeam, NetBackup, BackupExec) technologies.
Strong knowledge of network connectivity.
Good knowledge of Ansible.
Base knowledge of Active Directory.
Base knowledge of Zabbix.
