Job Title: Systems Engineer/Infrastructure EngineerLocation: Chicago, IL (on site)Contract Length: 6 months contract-to-hireJob Description:Essential Duties and responsibilities
- Perform day to day systems administration activities to ensure performance, stability, and capacity of the IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with GBS IT Ops team to determine infrastructure requirements.
- Assist with procuring IT infrastructure, support, and services consistent with GBS standards & guidelines.
- Participate and represent the business/products during infrastructure incidents and participate in on call rotation.
- Maintain and monitor procedures for server backups and restore capabilities.
- Monitor, plan, and coordinate the distribution of server software, hot fixes, OS patches and service packs.
- Maintain inventory for hardware and software resources including support agreements, licensing, etc.
- Ability to document processes and procedures
- Occasional Off-Hours availability
- System Engineer support experience
- Demonstrate the understanding of complex software architectures, and the ability to help enhance, support, and troubleshoot that architecture.
- Demonstrate excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening), with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Demonstrate strong problem analysis, problem resolution, decision making and judgment skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand technical business needs and translate into infrastructure requirements.
- General understanding of IT related financials and budgets.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, RHEL, and VMware.
- Strong knowledge of Dell/EMC server and storage hardware.
- Strong knowledge of backup/restore (Veeam, NetBackup, BackupExec) technologies.
- Strong knowledge of network connectivity.
- Good knowledge of Ansible.
- Base knowledge of Active Directory.
- Base knowledge of Zabbix.
- Base knowledge of network switches, routers and firewalls is a nice to have.
- Base knowledge F5 LTMs is a nice to have.
