Infrastructure Engineer (Technical Operations)
RESPONSIBILITIES:Kforce has a client in Chicago, IL that is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Technical Operations) - Global Systems and Virtualization. This position is 100% remote.Key Tasks: Infrastructure Engineer will create innovative infrastructure engineering solutions and designs within defined standards and architectures, ensuring that designs work holistically within larger solutions Collaborate with Architects to develop roadmaps from strategy documents and carry out regular roadmap reviews Design roadmap implementation projects, communicating with stakeholders and operations teams to ensure delivery Maintain a good awareness of Operations activities through regular communication with operations leads and by attending update meetings Create build instructions for engineering designs, and support operations teams during implementation Undertake requirements analysis of incoming requests ensuring deliverables are clearly understood and agreed with stakeholders Proactively seek out opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes and propose improvement activities Actively develop automation engineering solutions, identifying where automation should be used, and working with operations teams to implement solutions Incorporate security-by-design into all solutions, ensuring that security requirements are considered concurrently with technical requirements Work closely with Tech Ops tower leads as an escalation point, providing SME support to operations teams, assisting with P1/P2 incident resolution As a Infrastructure Engineer, you will liaise with 3rd party vendors when appropriate to create engineering solutions and continuous improvement proposals Collaborate with Architects to propose, review and implement new standards and technologies Carry out continuous personal development, ensuring technical skills are kept up to date and non-technical skills are gained and improvedREQUIREMENTS: Expert knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation products, including vSphere, vSAN, vCenter, SRM, NSX, and vRealize VMware Certified Professional: Data Center Virtualization (VCP - DCV) Expert knowledge of the MS Windows Server Operating System Expert knowledge of Windows Sever based infrastructure services such as Hyper-V, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, File Services, and Print Services Experience in Logical Data Center design and implementationExtensive experience of creating holistic engineering solutions comprising multiple elements including: On premise private cloud and multiple public cloud environments Integrations between segregated network zones such as OT, iDMZ/DMZ, IT Incorporating cloud and middleware capabilities Experience of creating technology roadmaps based on strategy inputs Ability to carry out requirements analysis and create detailed engineering solution designs using Visio Experience in providing engineering expertise to Operations teams in support of incident and request resolution Experience of engineering solutions comprising containerized and serverless environments Ability to create low level implementation and build documentation Experience in implementation of infrastructure automation, including provisioning and administration activities, using technologies such as Terraform, Packer, Ansible or IgnioAdvantageous: Experience in scripting languages (PowerShell, Azure JSON and Bicep, Python, Shell)A basic working understanding of other areas of technology focus: Linux OS implementation and management (RHEL, OEL, Suse) Storage Technologies (SAN, JBOD, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS) Networking principles, protocols, and practices Relational database technologies Enterprise Backup technologies (Commvault, NetBackup, Azure Backup) Middleware technologies (Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss)The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range.
