Hiring Paid Canvassers

Human Rights Lawyer and Democratic Candidate for Congress Qasim Rashid’s campaign is hiring Canvassers to support our voter contact program. Canvassers will engage voters by knocking on their doors to talk about Qasim’s values, priorities, and experience fighting for working families.

No previous campaign experience is required. The Qasim for Congress campaign will conduct weekly trainings that will equip Canvassers with all of the information and skills necessary for success in this role, as well as introduce candidates to other possible career paths in the campaign industry. Qasim for Congress is looking for Canvassers in Will, DuPage, Kane, McHenry, and Boone counties, and daily travel is expected.

Role Responsibilities:

Increase awareness for Qasim’s campaign and persuade Democratic voters by knocking on doors across the district

Travel across the district to meet daily and weekly voter outreach goals

Record voter data using campaign app and follow up with campaign staff to address voter questions

Job Requirements:

Passion for connecting with and empowering the community around Democratic values

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work under limited supervision

Exceptional time management skills

Current driver's license and access to reliable transportation (extensive in-district travel expected)

Smartphone with cell and data plan for logging door results on campaign app

Willing to work evenings and weekends - shifts are exclusively evenings and weekends

Ability to work outdoors for extended hours during winter conditions

Spanish speakers encouraged to apply

Compensation:

The role pays $20-25/hour depending on experience with a pathway to $25/hour for all new canvassers. Flexible scheduling available with a minimum requirement of 16 hours/week.

Start & End Dates:

Hiring will occur on a rolling basis, with an earliest possible start date of Monday, Dec. 11. Onboardings will take place on a weekly basis through March 1. End date is Tues, March 19.
