Full Time Cashier/Sandwich Cook (mixed role position)

Schneider Deli, a recently-opened Jewish deli in the heart of River North, is seeking an experienced CASHIER/SANDWICH COOK and LEAD COOK to join our team! These are immediately available, full-time positions

CASHIER/SANDWICH COOK: We are looking for someone with cashier experience (1-2 years) in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Jewish food AND experience with Toast are preferred but not required. Ideally you are someone that is able to multitask, take initiative, and communicate and interact with customers in a friendly and patient manner. As a chasier, you will be responsible for interacting with all customers, ringing in orders quickly, and making some simple beverages like coffee and sodas. Additionally, 2-3 shifts per week will be as a food handler on the sandwich station. Here you will be responsible for preparing fresh ingredients, cut meat to order and prepare bagels and sandwiches.

LEAD COOK: We are also looking to hire an experienced (2 years) lead cook! Duties will include prep and cooking on the line during service, making sandwiches, working hot line, and some delegating of tasks to other cooks. We are a VERY busy operation and need someone that is organized and communicative with a sense of urgency and willingness to work hard.

Pay for both positions starts at $20/hr (plus tips) and can be greater based on experience.

Availbility: These shifts are 6:30a to 3p. Weekday morning availibility is required for the cashier position. Weekend morning availbility is the required for the lead cook position.

Located at the corner of La Salle and Ohio at the iconic Ohio House Motel, Schneider Deli is a traditional Jewish deli featuring all of the deli classics like hot pastrami and corned beef sliced to order, bagels and breakfast sandwiches, matzo ball soup, a full deli case of prepared salads, pickles, latkes, and much more.
