Domestic Operations Specialist -

The Domestic Operation Specialist is responsible for handling various aspects of freight forwarding shipments included but not limited to quoting shipments, tracking shipments and other related tasks.

Shift : M-F 8AM-5PM 1HR LUNCH

Responsibilities:

Determine best shipping options based on client’s requirements and provide them with a budget of associated costs, keeping in mind the amount of work involved and making sure a reasonable profit is considered. Responsible to also follow up to ascertain if quotes are accepted by the recipient.

Ability to quote and route freight quickly across multiple transportation channels and services daily. Utilizing various resources. This includes all facets of Domestic Transportation. Expedites, LTL, White Glove, Warehousing, Hotshots, Asset recovery, trade shows, Projects, and Dedicated truckloads.

Strong understanding of utilizing Cartage agents, Linehaul providers such as forward air, American Linehaul, Land air, Accelerated ETC.

Core competency in moving Domestic Air freight such as understanding Airlines and aircraft max weight per piece and dims as well as cargo facilities hours and operations.

Ability to interface with customer in professional and consultancy manner.

Manage an active workflow and ensure that files are kept organized, and that ample time is given to each file to avoid last minute issues. Prioritization of workload to ensure timely and efficient handling of all shipments.

Provide proper and detailed information to our clients/agents to make sure they are kept informed and provided with the most current information of any changes relating to their shipments.

Ensure documentation is accurately processed, distributed, and released to carrier, customers, and agents in a timely manner.

Obtain and create quotes for shipments and source best method of transportation.

Familiarity with Common Carrier tariffs, Rules, accessorial charges, FAKs, freight classes, and NMFCs.

Continue to explore different options to reduce cost and increase revenues.

Quote customers on shipments timely and accurately.

Adhere to TSA and other government regulatory compliance standards with regards to booking, routing of all air shipments.

A high degree of accuracy and attention to details for data entry.

Work within team environment to ensure workload is evenly distributed and that clients are getting proper coverage when a colleague is out of the office.

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of systems including FileMaker, PNET, Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel

Assist as necessary with accounting issues, including but not limited to checks, accounts payable invoices, accounts receivable/billing and interface with corporate accounting when necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years in Domestic Freight Forwarding

Knowledge of Routing Domestic Freight forwarding shipments including Airfreight, Time definite, White glove, Asset recovery and Trade show shipments

Knowledge of LTL freight brokerage. (Ability to Route shipments on LTL carriers with understanding of classifying freight under NMFC guidelines and carrier capabilities within a TMS system.)

Knowledge of Full truckload brokerage including Dry Van, flatbeds and specialized equipment

Must be highly detailed, attentive, organized and have strong multitasking abilities

Ability to quote customers quickly and accurately using both conventional Domestic freight forwarding methods and LTL TMS system

The Ability to blend both conventional domestic freight forwarding and LTL TMS resources when needed to provide a solution for a particular shipment.

Ability to interface with clients over the phone.

Track and tracing of shipments when needed.
