Farm hand/ equipment operator

This is a full time position at Zenner Family Farm that is responsible for tending crops; the operation and maintenance of farm vehicles, machinery, equipment, and facilities; and the performance of other duties pertaining to farming. We are a fourth generation family farm just outside of the quiet community of Genesee. We are constantly striving to adopt new technologies and farming practices that help improve our soil and water quality. We take pride in stewarding the land and water resources that we have been blessed to farm. Some of the crops we raise are wheat, garbanzos, alfalfa, canola, peas, lentils and barley.

Duties include:

Planting, cultivating, harvesting, and putting up hay.

Perform basic math calculations used in mixing, utilizing, and/or dispensing volatile compounds, including fuels, paint, fertilizer, and exterminating agents such as herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides.

May be required to keep records and prepare reports regarding crops, fields, and machinery maintenance.

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment.

Receiving, comprehending, and following directions issued by supervisor.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas

Must be able to lift/carry 80 lbs. and be able to perform physical labor in various weather conditions. ex. fencing, building and assisting with general farm maintenance repair.

Must be able to drive manual transmissions in semis and pickups.

Requirements:

Two (2) years of Ag related experience.

Experience/training with Precision Agriculture equipment preferred.

Possession of a valid driver’s license.

English language fluency, verbal and written.

Also must have good communication, organizational skills and teamwork skills.
