CLASS “D” SECURITY OFFICER: $140.00

You get the “D” Class a 42-Hours course which covers Chapter 493 Florida Statute, Chapter 5N-1 FS. Administrative Code, Chapter 790 FS. Weapons and Firearms, Chapter 316 FS. Statute Vehicles Used by Security Agencies, get your certificate of completion and copy, so you can work as an unarmed security officer, must be 18-years of age to get a “D” license.

CLASS “G” SECURITY OFFICER: $200.00 if you provide the Ammo

You get the “G” Class a 28-hours course which covers the legal aspects of the use of firearms, FS 493, FS 775, FS 776, FS 790, civil and criminal liability, operational firearms safety, firearms mechanical training, firearms qualification. The class includes (2) B-34 targets, ears & eye protection, use of a 9mm semi-auto handgun, also help you fill out and notarized the “G” application for the state & get your certificate of completion and copy. So, you can work as an armed security officer, must be 18 years of age to get a “G” license.

RE-QUALIFICATION:

Re-qualification are $85.00, it's a 4-hour class. If you need to re-qualify on more than one handgun, it's $50.00 for additional caliber. (Price does not include ammo or use of a firearm).

Why would you want to become a Security Officer? Security work is a field that will never go away. With all the potential threats in today's society more and more businesses are in need of help protecting their property, assets, and people. If you're interested in safety and security, this could be the prefect job for you.

It is also a great retirement job for those that wish to still be in the field. The training before becoming a security officer officially is not hard to do and if you look up the requirements in your state then you have a better understanding of the industry and if it is right for you! This will help introduce you to what becoming a security officer is all about, your responsibilities, and how to handle different situations.

Almost every form of business utilizes some form of security including but not limited to local businesses, casinos, hospitals, banks, airports, stores, retirement homes, private security firms, and even nuclear power plants often hire security officers to help protect their property and deter illegal activities. The duties of a security officer can var drastically depending on the employer and assignments. A security officer may be stationed watching monitors for suspicious activity, patrolling a location, providing security for events, or protecting people. Because of this, the security officer must be familiar with state and local laws as well as their employer's policy and procedures.

Most likely you will work for a Security Agency that is hired out for a company and once you fill out the application and interview, your potential employer will also run a background check on you to make certain you don't have a criminal record or have been involved with drugs or other illegal substances.

From my experience, if you pass this test, you will be hired to work right away and not many agencies do random checks unless “there is reason or suspicion” to do so by the employer.
