This Engineer performs ongoing cybersecurity risk reviews for new and existing technologies and services and supports ongoing and new cybersecurity and network projects. This will be a 12-month contract opportunity and this role comes with the potential of a hybrid position two days a week. This candidate will work the day shift, Monday to Friday. Scope of Activity and Responsibilities:

  • Develop requirements for and implement technical security projects and tools, as well as define the company's cybersecurity policies and control framework
  • Collaborates with the company's IT department and business units to identify the need for, select, and deploy technical controls to meet specific security requirements
  • Build processes and standards to ensure security requirements continue to be met
  • Administers, operates, and monitors information security sensors, logging, alerting and other detection mechanisms to identify and respond to threats
  • Acts as subject matter expert for one or multiple assigned cybersecurity technology stacks (e.g., identity and access management, network intrusion detection and prevention, host based security tools)
  • Collaborates with security architecture to identify, evaluate, and recommend new security technologies for suitability within environment and security posture
  • Communicates ongoing cybersecurity activities, priorities, and risk measurements or mitigations at multiple organizational levels
  • Provides guidance for security activities and requirements in the system development life cycle (SDLC) and application development efforts
  • Will be working with workstations, servers (Cisco / Dell / IBM), and firewalls (Palo Alto)
  • Supporting CIP (critical Infrastructure Protection Standards) and complete proactive activities for protecting critical infrastructure
  • Participates in organizational projects, as required
  • Working in an operational technology environment keeping the existing network and cyber security up to par
  • Implement security in the network operations
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7+ years of working hands-on with networking, security, and compliance
  • IT related degree plus hands-on network and security experience required
  • Strong Network Engineer background required
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, managerial, financial management and leadership skills
  • Asset and compliance experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of applying security controls, i.e., MAC Blocking, Spam Port, VLANs, APL, Sys log, Traffic
  • Must have strong understanding and knowledge of Filtering Techniques, filtering groups who should or should not have access to networks
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to the business users in the context of business requirements
  • Familiarity with information security technologies such as antivirus, IDS / IPS, SIEM, endpoint detection and response, DLP, data encryption, proxies, and network access control, data diodes, as well as security policies and procedures, and incident response
  • Familiarity with reviewing complex architecture design diagrams and documents for new technologies and changes to existing technologies to determine risks and provide recommendations and mitigations
  • Work independently with little or no supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical individuals
  • Ability to foster working relationships with the team, Engineering, IT and Client departments
  • Willing to work in strong team environment, constantly teaching and learning from other team members
  • Previous documentation experience is a plus
  • CISSP or CCNA certifications not required but a plus
  • Able to support the Cyber Security Architect with projects
