Job Title: Patent Legal Assistant Duration: 8 MonthsLocation: San Mateo, CAXoriant reasonably expects the pay rate for this position to be within the following range: $25.00/hour-$38.00/hour.Job DescriptionThis is a position within the Patent (IP) team at Company reporting to the Patent Paralegal Manager. We are dynamic Patent team that coordinates and manages SIE worldwide patent portfolio. This position will provide assistance and support for the day-to-day administrative functions pertaining to Company’s patent prosecution team. This position will work closely with and under the direction of the Patent Paralegal Manager and support several administrative functions covering all US-origin invention handling and processing.Responsibilities:
- Assist with various administrative duties relating to both foreign and domestic patent prosecution
- Organize and maintain invention disclosures and patent files
- Docket and de-docket foreign and domestic action items from IP docketing system
- Invoice audit and pre-approval
- Coordinating with outside counsel on billing matters and accruals
- Work effectively and build collaborative relationships with inventors and counterpart personnel in other Company entity legal department
- Handle expense reports
- Meeting planning and scheduling conference rooms, caterings, patent workshops, and teleconferences, etc.
- Strong familiarity with patent operations, rules and filing time requirements
- Knowledge of domestic and foreign prosecution flows
- Ability to pull records from public and private databases worldwide
- Familiarity with IP filing procedures and file maintenance
- Experience in patent prosecution docketing systems
- Experience in patent billing or auditing of patent expenses
- Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to self-start, prioritize and multi-task
- Strong presentation skills with ability to format and pivotable data into structured easy-to-read reports using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience maintaining confidential information and documents
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent a plus
- Paralegal certificate a plus
