Lead Female Actress Opportunity

Take the lead role in a high-quality feature film and own 30% of the movie. This is a serious opportunity and a serious undertaking. Please read carefully.

This is a "pay to play" contract. You will be paying for 30% of the budget of the film. That number is 70k. (seventy thousand dollars). To be clear, you are investing in yourself and this film. The right actress will get the lead role and you will own 30% of the film. There will be a properly formed LLC and your name will be on the documents.

Our last thriller was picked up for distribution and the director has worked with star name talent. He is a known director. Our Executive Producer has made 40 features and represented north of 100 films. You will be working with people who love filmmaking, but are highly professional when it comes to the business.

Absolute worst-case scenario; it could take up to two years to recoup your 70k investment through AVOD streaming platforms. Our aim is to do much better than that. We know the film will get distribution, through our existing relationships, on all of the major streaming outlets. But we are aiming a little higher than that. We are aiming for a theatrical release, but the film will need to test well, and the numbers have got to work. Our distributor will help with that decision.

The film is a horror/thriller, no nudity, very little gore, with a highly original concept and shooting style. The film has been designed to have broad appeal within and a beyond its horror/thriller niche. It is not a 'kids in the woods' cheap little indie, it is going to look pretty amazing.

We are highly strategic in our approach, we don't move forward unless we believe we have something that can make something of a splash, but we plan and budget for worst case scenarios. Thus, this film will be made for an extremely low budget with a very small tight team. That means we can get back into the black quickly and start making returns.

The film will be shot in Los Angeles over a 20-25 day shoot day schedule. We plan to start shooting in approx 12 weeks. We are already in preproduction, development and previz. The film is already being made and you will get to see some test clips.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The female star of this film literally carries the movie. You will be onscreen for 100% of the shoot, so we really have to be careful about choosing our lead actress.

Must be local to Los Angeles or can get here under your own steam for a max of 25 shoot days.

Age 25-40. Great if you look about 30, but not much older. Sadly, this is Hollywood and we respect the obvious conventions.

Beauty is great, but "interesting" is much morewell, interesting. You might be Rooney Mara, you might be Meryl Streep, or Kate Blanchet. If anyone, who is not your mother, has ever said you have charisma/star quality we would like to hear from you. We would seriously love to break out a brand new "star" actress.

Stars generally have something a little more than just beauty, right. Generally, it is about how well people can read their emotions, even if they are just looking out of a window, something seems to be going on inside of them and we want to watch them, waiting to see what they will do.

Great if you have done 'voice development work.' A thin, high pitched, nasally voice is probably not going to work.

The lead character is middle management, perhaps a secretary, or a realtor. An 'everyday' woman who is about to walk into a really bad situation. She has been under a lot of stress, and must be 'sympathetic.' She is written that way but 'angular' and vulnerable need to read somewhere in our character's face. Hungry looking, rather than comfortably rotund.

You need emotional intelligence. The backbone of all great acting, right?

The dialogue is minimal; the character is alone in a frightening environment for most of the film, which puts a heavy demand on understanding how to express micro emotions. Lots of close-ups where we need to be able to "read" your face, very subtle expressions of interior emotion and thought process.

Physically fit. There are no major/dangerous stunts required, but you must be able to take a fall onto soft matts, for example, plus, keep up your energy for an intensive shoot schedule. Those who do yoga, jog, etc, will probably survive.

Stamina: Expressing emotions over a 10 hour shoot day for 4 to 6 weeks is not easy. It takes serious dedication and determination. If you have not taken a lead role before or you are not sure then think twice, it is not for the faint hearted.

We are prepared to consider those with limited experience if they present well in interview.

Yes, it might feel a little silly and embarrassing, but a 2 minute clip will let us see who you are. It is also something of a test and you must pass it to move to move forward.

WHY PAY TO PLAY:

In brief, the industry has changed. Almost everything is going to the streamers and online outlets and they pay pennies on the dollar. That means budgets have to be kept really low and filmmakers have to find new models to make films, tell their stories and make it back into the black. J-Lo did "Boy Next Door" for union scale and a cut of the film. That is how tight budgeting has become.

Everyone on our team has skin in the game, investing resources, time and money. Offering this opportunity gives those who are truly determined the chance to break into the business, take the lead role in a professionally made feature film and actually own a part of the movie.

If some magic happens there could be a really nice return on your 70k investment. If not, you will at the very least make your money back, with royalties to come, and have a seriously incredible calling card for your acting career on all of the streaming services.

But, please don't risk your life savings. Repeat, it could take 2 years to recoup your money.
