Fiber Optic and UTP Testing - Trainee Position

This trainee position requires a mature/professional demeanor, strong literacy (reading, writing, and technical), physical mobility, technical aptitude, attention to detail, and dependability.

The candidate for this technical position should have a strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn and follow our strict fiber optic and UTP data testing protocols. The successful candidate will be trained to:

- identify UTP and fiber optic cabling types and properties

- test and certify UTP cabling up to Cat8 (2000MHz)

- learn to clean, inspect, and certify fiber end faces to applicable ISO standards

- learn to operate OLTS (optical loss test set) equipment for TIA Tier1 certification (to 400Gbps)

- learn to operate OTDR (optical time domain reflectometer) equipment for TIA Tier2 certification (to 400Gbps)

- learn to certify network optical transceivers using

- learn to rack and stack network electronics and transceivers from a network diagram for team engineer configuration

Note: The position requires regular safe use of a ladder and step stools and the strength to carry test equipment and supporting materials from the truck to/from the telecommunications spaces under test. You must have your own dependable transportation.
