Summary of Job Details
The Basic Needs Specialist reports directly to the Basic Needs and Rapid Rehousing Manager. UCSB Basic Needs programs and services are constantly developing and expanding critical new efforts to support student basic needs. The Basic Needs specialist works in a dynamic setting to support critical basic needs work. This position would support the Basic Needs and Rapid Rehousing manager not only in existing efforts but also new initiatives and programs. The Basic Needs Specialist supports the administrative, communication and programmatic needs of the Basic Needs and Rapid Rehousing Manager. As Basic Needs encompasses a variety of campus stakeholders this role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. During peak seasons basic needs programs can be impacted, and the basic needs specialist would provide programmatic support to ensure timely response for applicants as needed. This includes but is not limited to the Halal Kosher Grocery Program, the Undocumented Students Grocery Program, the Basic Needs Technology program and more. The basic needs specialist will work well independently as well as with a larger basic needs team on campus to ensure the success of programs and services.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Ability to work with a diverse student population.
Flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances
Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
Ability to solve problems, conduct research and present solutions to management.

Satisfactory conviction history background check
