Private Caregiver Position, $25/hr

My name is Lou. My wife, Claire, is an intelligent 58-year-old woman with advanced muscular dystrophy looking for a qualified caregiver/personal assistant for two days a week (occasionally three days). The days are somewhat flexible, as she needs coverage every day from approximately 7:30/8 am - 4/5/6pm. Ideally though, we are looking for someone Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday. But, again, there is some flexibility. Possible overnight if an emergency were to arise (at a variable rate). Occasional weekend availability appreciated, but currently covered.

This is a unique caregiving position which requires skilled caregiving experience mixed with personal assistant skills.

Caregiving duties: grooming, showering, preparing and feeding meals, exercise movements, upbeat emotional support, and housekeeping. Although Claire can bear some standing weight, candidate MUST BE STRONG enough to turn her in bed, assist getting her to standing and transfer to a wheelchair. She weighs approximately 130 pounds. Caregiving equipment includes: electric sit-to-stand, oxygen, commode, and power mobility devices.

Personal assistant duties: Because Claire is a writer with limited use of her hand muscles, candidate MUST BE proficient enough with the English language to help with text messaging, emails, and blogging on her Apple devices.

Training and instruction will be given by Claire's current caregivers and myself. $15/hr to train (generally 3-4 short sessions); $20/hr to begin; $25/hr after 1 month. Being on time, reliable, common sense, team player, and upbeat personality are very important.

Please be Covid vaccinated, as well as willing to get yearly flu vaccine. AZ fingerprint card and CPR/First aid training necessary. Male or female.
