Associate Transit Planner

Job Title: Associate Planner

FLSA Status: Overtime Eligible

JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Transit Planner participates in transit and transportation planning studies, programs, surveys, and grant application process.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Support the grant application process, including project and budget definition, collaboration with project partners, task identification and assignment, writing grant application, and support grant obligation.

- Facilitate the Coordinated Mobility Council which coordinates local transportation providers to assess needs, strategizes to address gaps and improve efficiency for transportation service delivery within the Flagstaff MetroPlan boundary including creating agendas, facilitating meetings, providing public meeting notices and records retention in accordance with State law.

- Coordinates regional mobility planning efforts with MetroPlan, NACOG, ADOT and other agencies and organizations.

Provides information about services to individuals, agencies and employers through brochures, websites, telephone, email, group presentation and other means.

- Manages data, performance reporting, and research best practices for Transportation Demand Management (TDM) and mobility activities.

- Oversees and maintains TDM website MoveMeFLG.

- Oversees the Mountain Line Vanpool program.

- Assists with data collection, analysis, and reports to support planning efforts.

- Participates in transit planning studies, programs, and surveys, including collection, entry, tabulation, and analysis of technical data.

- Assists in a variety of data and geographic analysis tools, such as Remix and Streetlight, to support planning activities.

- Assist with transit planning projects, programs, and regulations including Mountain Line’s Five-Year and Long-Range Transit Plan and covering a range of topics such as emerging technology, fare collection, facility and fleet state of good repair, transition to battery electric buses, increase ridership, and first and last mile connections to transit.

- Assist in planning for passenger amenity improvements, including examination, reporting, and developing proposed improvements and new facilities. These facilities include bus shelters, bus stop benches, park-and-ride lots, litter receptacles, information kiosks and other facilities.

- Provides and prepares presentation materials including graphs, maps, and other visual displays.

- Provides research and preliminary analysis of programs and regulations (as needed).

- Provides input and program compliance on Title VI related to service planning.

- Attends, observes, and reports on public meetings and outreach events.

- Perform other planning and quality monitoring tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Geography, Planning, Statistics, or similar field

2 years of practical work experience in a planning agency, especially in transit, with project, research, and coordination experience

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
