STEAM Academy Coordinator – Extensions and Enrichment – Development and implementation of STEAM Academy physical fitness, cultural environmental science, and science/safety in collaboration with the CHOICES program. The Coordinator serves Alaskan Natives and American Indian living in the Matsu Borough service area. The Coordinator will focus on providing community communication, program development, and outreach, in the Matsu Borough service area.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement the STEAM Academy activities
Develop active/collaborative partnerships with training providers
Recruit youth to the programs and develop education/activity plans for each
o Read and respond/math-athon
o VR healthcare education
o E-sports gaming
o Summer Leadership
Create safety guidelines for all activities
Follow the guidelines of the Choices grant
Provide information on services available in the community
Collaborate development of media campaign and community outreach
Provide transportation of youth per schedule
Submit data and reports on time to the director.
Obtain, track and document all pertinent information.
Participate in scheduled community meetings as requested.
Work as part of a team: the team includes co-workers, partner agencies and the participant.
Lead planning and implementation stage of Choices, connecting with parents for input
Bring policy issues to the Program director or Management Team as they arise
Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies, and procedures.
Perform all related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Associate’s Degree in Education or related field, or one or more (1+) years of experience in related field and continuing education towards a higher degree.
Experience
Preferred one (1) year activity coordination, in an education field setting.
Requirements of Employment
Valid driver license issued by State of Alaska within 30 days of hire.
Must pass a criminal background check.
Willingness to be trained in new learning environments.
General Information:
Location: - Grizzly Family Fitness Center
Supervisor: Director of Youth Activities
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (some weekends as determined by activity schedule). Travel to occasional trainings or meetings may be required.
Salary: $22.00 – $32.00 per hour DOE/E.
