Manual Machinist

Hayden Electric Motors is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist.

This is a full time day shift position (40 + hrs per week.).

Job Description:

Operates manual lathes and milling machines to complete repair processes for electric motors (Repair and reconditioning of endbells, rotor shafts, and stator housings. Fabrication of sleeves, bushings, and replacement parts as needed.)

Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping by use of dial indicators, Vernier micrometers, depth and internal micrometers.

Selects appropriate machine and settings for a given task.

Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.

Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.

Maintains inventory of tooling and consumables specific to the machine shop.

Checks output for quality assurance, adherence to industry specifications, and repairs defects.

Identifies need for, and performs, machine maintenance and minor repairs.

Maintains a safe and clean work area.

Knowledge of gas, spray, arc and mig welding required. Tig welding experience is preferred.

Must be willing to cross train in shop analysis and repair of electric motors and generators.

Must be able to pass a drug test, have valid and clean Alaska driver's license and be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
