Inside Wireman
The inside wireman does the electrical work on industrial, commercial, and private structures and installations. Work consists of installing conduit, wire, distribution and service panels, lighting fixtures, motors and controls. Much of the work may be outside, in all kinds of weather, and involve reading of plans, codes, and specifications.
To meet minimum qualifications for apprenticeship, applicants must:
1. Be a minimum of 18 years of age at time of selection.
2. Have a valid driver's license.
3. Have a high school diploma or state issued GED certificate.
4. Meet the minimum math requirement through one of the following:
a. Two semesters of high school algebra 1 (or higher-level algebra) with a
passing grade of āCā or higher,
b. one post high school algebra course with a passing grade,
c. a certificate showing completion of the NJATC tech math course, or
d. the State of Alaska WorkKeys math test with a ā6ā or higher.
You must submit all of the following items to be considered for an interview:
1. Online application form;
2. Copy of driver's license;
3. Copy of full individual driving record;
4. OFFICIAL transcripts for high school and post high school education and training,
including GED records if applicable;
5. Copy of high school diploma or GED certificate (high school transcripts are
sufficient if they state that you obtained a diploma);
6. Documentation showing that you meet the minimum math requirement;
7. Pay the $25 processing fee
If you served in the U.S. military within the last 5 years, or if you can document over 2,000
hours of electrical construction experience, different qualifications may apply to you.

Our educational program is an extensive multi-faceted program in both the classroom and on the job in order to prepare our graduates for all of the complexities they will face in their careers. School consists of five seven week sessions that occur approximately once every year. Classes are held eight hours a day, five days a week, at the Electrical Training Centers in Anchorage and Fairbanks. There is a total of 1400 hours of class-related training as well 8,000 hours of on-the-job training to complete the apprenticeship. You will earn an hourly wage and defined benefits while working on-the-job. AJEATT Apprentices may be required to report for OJT assignments anywhere within our employment jurisdiction.
