Our client is seeking to hire a driven Workstation Systems Analyst to join their IT Operations team dedicated to customer satisfaction. The Systems Analyst position will be responsible for working independently and assisting senior IT staff with the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows Server and workstation systems, Linux Server systems and performing general IT tasks.Duties & Responsibilities: Server Overview

  • Assist with installing and configuring Windows server and Linux server operating systems and software
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Azure and AWS technologies (both IaaS and PaaS) and options to support the migration process
  • Analyze and resolve configuration issues in development, test, and production environments
  • Responsible for On-Premise Datacenter maintenance, patching servers, backups and tape rotations, maintain documentation, server inventory and datacenter and server supplies and parts
  • Order parts and supplies as needed, change backup tapes as needed
  • Be a team player and coordinate with the larger Systems and Infrastructure team on projects and initiatives
  • Maybe required to perform other duties as instructed by team leads and / or managers
  • Available for on-call business needs
Workstation Overview
  • Thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems with expert knowledge of Win10
  • Basic understanding Linux, MAC, IOS, and other applicable operating systems
  • Install, configure workstation computers, monitors, and peripherals as required for new installations and end user office setup or reconfiguration
  • Strong working knowledge of web browsers and other popular windows-based applications
  • Strong logic and trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with proven ability to think outside the box
  • Provide desktop and software troubleshooting / administration with candid ability to work closely with senior members of the team helping to learn, escalate internal operations quickly
  • Provide after hours and weekend support on an as needed basis outside of general working hours
  • Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLA) on tickets assigned helping department meet goals
  • Create incident tickets, update incident tickets and close incident tickets using ServiceNow
  • Research and resolve difficult and complex problems escalated from the service desk Tier 1 technicians
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, and request
  • Ability to adapt, be flexible and manage change effectively and transparently
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to explain difficult technical material clearly to varying levels of proficiency
  • Troubleshoot problems with end points, including hardware and software applications, peripheral equipment, smartphones, tablets, VOIP phones, printers, copiers, etc.
  • Support collaboration, and productivity tools like 0365, MS Teams, etc.
  • Experience supporting virtual desktop environments (VMware Horizon, Wyse) Virtualization & Cloud platforms (I.e. VMWare, AWS, Microsoft Azure)
  • Process incoming tickets with an immediate response focused on quality and speed
  • Provide effective resolutions, instructions, and information to the end-users
  • Communicate effectively with team members
  • Improve customer service, perception, and satisfaction
Job Qualifications:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of progressive professional systems administration experience in an information technology department primarily in systems administration
    • May substitute equivalent working experience in the field in lieu of education
  • 6+ years of experience supporting computer systems with at least 2 or more years of experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS is preferred
  • 6+ years of experience with various networking protocols and their use, particularly TCP / IP, DHCP, DNS and WINS is preferred
  • Must demonstrate a general understanding of system administration concepts, practices, and standards including but not limited to system installation, configuration and management, performance tuning and measurement, back-up, and recovery, security / firewalls, web servers and load balancing
  • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems
  • Basic troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of DNS, DHCP and Active Directory
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and quickly determine escalation points
  • Must have organizational and prioritization skills including scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates
  • Must be able to contribute to the development of new processes and resolve moderately complex technical problems in a creative and efficient manner
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of moderately complex problems
    • Good analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required
  • Certifications in one or more of the following is a great plus:
    • AWS
    • Azure
    • ITIL
    • Agile
  • Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical audience
  • Ability to multi-task and operate with a strong sense of urgency
  • Can-do attitude to problem solving, open-ness to evaluate and accept new ideas
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge and skills in the following areas are preferred:
    • Windows Server and Windows workstation operating systems
    • MS System Center Configuration Manager
    • Symantec Netbackup
    • VMWare virtual server management
    • Data Center management
    • System/application monitoring and alert response
  • Basic troubleshooting skills
  • Basic knowledge of DNS, DHCP and Active Directory
  • Basic understanding of TCP / IP and IP addressing
  • Ability to write documentation
  • Ability to work with and coordinate with vendors
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and quickly determine escalation points
  • Knowledge of other cloud environments like AWS / Google Cloud is a plus
  • Possess progressive technology experience - ensuring on-time completion of tasks in a team setting
  • Is nimble, resilient, forward thinking, customer-focused, and thoughtful to make principled decisions
  • Enjoys a dynamic environment of "roll up the sleeves with technology teams
  • Demonstrates the ability to inspire team effort, communicate IT organization goals, and contribute to consistent processes
  • Deep knowledge and experience with common desktop, peripheral, mobile, virtualization, imaging, configuration, packaging, delivery, and network technologies necessary to build and deliver device and desktop computing services: Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS, GPO, MTD, SCCM, Citrix, policy and configuration management, VPN
