Software Engineer (UI UX) - Local to VA

Position: Software Engineer (UI UX) Duration: 6-month CTH Prioritized candidates live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA. But work may be performed remotely from any of the following states: AL, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, KY, ME, MD, NV, NJ, NM, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV, WY. REQUIRED Top 3 Technical skills:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A combination of education and experience, including through military service, will also be considered.
• Proficiency with a combination of the following (typically acquired by 4-7 years of experience):
  • Strong Java programming and/or legacy programming language, hands-on professional software development, hands-on SQL, and experience with building end-to-end solutions with front-end frameworks and integration with backend data services using API Web/REST Services.
  • Maintaining code quality and security standards using tools such as SonarQube, Fortify, and/or Crucible.
  • Agile/Scrum procedures and processes.
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, and debugging issues in a Production environment.
  • MVC frameworks and/or multi-tier architectures.
  • Application/web server/cloud environment
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • UI, Front end technology (HTML5, CSS3, Responsive design, JS frameworks).
  • Angular 2 (Typescript) and associated unit testing frameworks like Jasmine and KARMA.
  • Applications that are externally facing must conform to usability guidelines such as Section 508 or WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines.
  • Developing user interfaces in accordance with these guidelines and with testing using tools, such as JAWS.
  • Building component-based Single-Page Application (SPA) using Angular with Typescript or similar JavaScript frameworks
• Working knowledge of responsive design techniques for acceptable page rendering regardless of device, such as Angular material, Bootstrap, etc.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written, verbal, and Interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of working effectively both in a team environment and independently.

• Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA or may be performed remotely from any of the following states: AL, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, KY, ME, MD, NV, NJ, NM, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WV, WY.
• Are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a good faith basis for seeking an exemption from this requirement.

• Understanding of XML & JSON data formats, RESTful services.
• Demonstrated experience:
  • Working in large data centric application environment and detailed understanding business tier modeling, data flows, data architecture and real-time/batch-based processing.
  • Developing cloud-based applications using open-source technology, containers, and microservices.
  • With software such as Tableau, Postgres, Glue, Redshift, Semarchy, Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS products.

• Certification as an AWS Developer/AWS Solutions Architect.
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • Spring Boot and Spring framework.
  • XML and Web Service application development.
  • Cloud native application development.

• Use of a computer for 8 or more hours a day.
• Use of a copy machine and telephone.
• Frequently required to sit for 7 or more hours per day in close proximity to others in an open office environment.
• Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and reach.
• Vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Travel via car, train and airplane when needed.
• Occasional overtime and work on weekends may be necessary to support production deployment.
