We have been retained by our client in Houston, Texas (northwest Houston) to deliver a

Platforms Systems Administrator with Kubernetes experience on a

contract to hire basis. This contract to hire results in a package with

large bonuses and

stock offered. This company has a significant amount of profit sharing to inspire collaboration.

Platforms Systems Administrator works with the server infrastructure team and the big data engineering team to ensure the

infrastructure will support the needs of the

data engineering platform and ensure the platform performs well, is highly available, reliable, and scalable. This person will work as part of the platform services team to administering and supporting Kubernetes, Docker Containers, and other associated tasks the platform services team currently supports. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Rancher Kubernetes and Longhorn administration and design

    Kubernetes required, Rancher and Longhorn a plus.
  • Ensure uptime and reliable performance of all critical production systems
  • Maintain security best practices, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Leverage automation and new technologies to increase productivity and performance
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Performs root cause analysis for any assigned problem
  • Change Management tasks implementation
  • Software and Patch Management deployment for OS and all other supported applications
  • Documentation
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Projects as assigned

QualificationsThe successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or associated studies is preferred
  • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Admin) certification is preferred
  • Experience supporting a large enterprise environment in a 24x7 high availability scenario and proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux, Container and

    Kubernetes based environments
  • Minimum 2 year of experience managing and deploying

    Kubernetes environments
  • Demonstrated experience in container technologies (e.g. Docker,

    Kubernetes, etc.) and deploying

    Kubernetes environments
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with

    CICD pipelines (i.e. Jenkins, Gitlab, or other tools) with

    building and/or configuring pipelines for build and deployment of software preferred
  • Experience using

    Ansible or other configuration management tools
  • Experience with monitoring and logging in a production environment using Splunk
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to do so in a stressful situation
  • Expertise in software systems tools and languages (e.g.,

    Python, PowerShell) Powershell and Python required.
  • Splunk is a nice plus, but not required.
  • Software and Patch Management deployment for OS and all other supported applications. Operating System patching and security updates experience is required.
  • Experience working in large scale server environments, or an enterprise environment consisting of 600+ servers, multiple remote locations, and mobile users
10 years or more experience preferred

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Pay Rate: $65.00 to 84.00 per hour W-2
