Role: Linux Admin VERITAS Cluster Duration:: Full time Role Irving, TX Job Title : Linux System Administrator Relevant Experience (Yrs) : 10 + years of experience in Linux Administration , Red Hat and VERITAS Cluster experience Experience Required Must have:
- Should have experience in performing L3 (level 3) Subject Matter Expertise in UNIX Primary Linux, Secondary AIX
- Must have current strong experience with Red Hat and VERITAS Cluster Suite and system Automation
- Strong scripting knowledge: Perl scripting, shell scripting and command line utilities
- Must attain and keep current appropriate industry certifications (Red hat Certified Engineer or Red hat Certified Systems Administrator).
- Redhat 5.x, 6.x (5-7 years)
- Builds, package installs, performance tuning, root cause analysis, ldap/kdc config
- Native LVM for RHEL and AIX (5-7 years)
- Clustering solutions
- Veritas Cluster VCS(3-5 years)
- Oracle Rac Builds (1-2 years)
- Unix Security Framework knowledge (PAM, KDC/LDAP, SSH key management, etc)
- Networking protocols (NFS, SSH, SFTP, HTTP)
- Performance tuning (kernel parameters, network parameters)
- HP Blade Chassis, ILO (2-5 years)
- VMware containers (2-5 years)
- SAN and NAS client (5-7 years)
- Formal training in programming (4 years)
- Shell programming(ksh,perl) (2-5 years)
- CFengine,Chef,Puppet(1-3 years)
- Experience as an IT Linux server administrator and hands on support of Postfix
- Strong working knowledge of MySQL
- Strong working knowledge/support of Unix based system
- Strong working knowledge of virtualization technologies and VMware products
- Strong knowledge of DNS and network tools (ping, traceroute, etc.)
- Experience with supporting enterprise applications such as Oracle Financials and Oracle databases running onLinux
- Must be able to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and effectively
- Deep understanding of basic TCP/IP and internet protocols required
- Knowledge of NIS, LDAP, NFS, SMTP, IMAP, and X11R7 is required
- Knowledge of SAN/NAS management is a plus
- Ability to clearly communicate business and technical concepts in writing or orally
- Server Administration Hardware, OS, SAN allocations, Network, and Scripting
- Software Installations OS Package/patch installations, client software installation
- Monitoring Tivoli alerts, system and network-level performance monitoring, performance tuning, backups, and capacity planning
- Project representation Represent the team on assigned projects, planning and implementation
- Processes Global standards, compliance, security, change management, asset management
- Server Migrations - Database, Application, Web server migrations between Datacenters
- Server and Process Automation
- Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
- Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages

- Maintains data files and control procedures for complex systems of networked computers or a single group of microcomputers linked to a host workstation
- Ensures long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization
- Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of computer software
- Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system
- Responsible for system security and data integrity that involves general troubleshooting and communication with end users
- Monitors network traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware
- May maintain project schedules
- Self-starter required.
- Strong customer and quality-focus is a must.
- Sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Ability to focus on multiple simultaneous problems under tight deadlines.
- Candidate with Spanish knowledge is advantage
