Title: Senior Node.js and AWS Application Engineer

Hybrid work model (2-3 days onsite, 2 remote)

Charlotte, NC

Position Description:As a Senior AWS Application Engineer, you will participate in enhancing and supporting the evolution of our next generation Customer Communication Platform. You will work within and across technology teams to understand requirements, design and build application code and serverless infrastructure relating to one of our key enterprise communication platforms. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enable us to deliver and improve on the product quickly.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work as an application developer/engineer building serverless components and application code with a focus on Node.js and Lambda.
• Use your intellectual curiosity and technical acumen to design resilient applications and software defined architecture of scale where zero downtime is not only a goal but a mandate.
• Design components for sustainability, performance, and scalability.
• Contribute to all aspects of the software development and support process including design, development, testing, and support.
• Support other teams across the enterprise to implement and use Services and Integrations provided by the enterprise Customer Communication Platform.
• Participate in work relating to data streaming, event publishing, and event-driven processing.
• Identify innovative solutions and perform, evaluate, and present POCs regarding solutions that require new patterns and cloud services.
• Adhere to established performance & code quality standards and conventions. Participate in code reviews as reviewer and reviewee.
• Participate in an agile delivery process, and as part of that help size stories and own, research and recommend new solutions.
• Participate in triage sessions and participate and drive troubleshooting and analysis as and when needed.
• Apply common sense and care when it comes to protecting Ally customer data and security.
• Balance mutual respect for the past with a continuous improvement attitude. (In other words, apply pragmatism to solution recommendations factoring in what may already be in place)
• Operate with a mantra of 100% automation from build through deployment and monitoring.

Required Skills:

• Certified AWS Developer and/or Certified AWS Architect

• 5+ years of hands-on experience working in and around AWS Serverless technologies.

• API Gateway, SQS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, Event Bridge, Step Functions.

• Understanding of serverless cloud software design principles and patterns.

• Strong programming experience with NodeJS and JavaScript.

• Strong API Development skills and an understanding of API Concepts.
• Experience building cloud applications using Terraform IAC Tools.
• Experience with GITLAB pipelines .
• Working experience in Agile Environments (Scrum) and cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of Agile Concepts.
• Strong problem-solving skills coupled with excellent verbal and written skills.
