Software Development Manager – C#, Agile, SQLThe Software Development Manager is expected to be hands-on during the development phase with the ability to make code changes when necessary.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage and mentor a team of software engineers on software development best practices.
  • Create and maintain a supportive and collaborative environment for all software engineers and QA staff.
  • Analyze, recommend and implement process changes within the team to improve quality and productivity.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of one or more of Company’s software products.
  • This includes:
  • Analyze and make decisions on the technical direction of the product
  • Analyze requirements and provide designs that fit within the existing application framework
  • Understand and discuss technical concepts with technical and non-technical staff
  • Triage of issues from the field and provide workarounds when possible
  • Delivery of high-quality software releases on a predictable schedule.
  • Perform code-reviews of team member’s code. Provide and accept constructive feedback during the code review process.
Decision Making Authority:This position performs duties in an independent manner with little or no supervision, exercises basic discretion and judgment regarding routine work, and looks for assistance on non-routine events and issues. The role is responsible for producing high-quality and defect free systems and although the role has input into the technologies used, the employee must work within the technology stack approved by the Vice President of Engineering. Changes to processes and procedures, coding patterns, and frameworks will require approval from the Vice President of Engineering. This said, the role has the responsibility to do whatever is necessary (while maintaining technical excellence and quality and within budget constraints and department policies) to complete the work on time.Skills Required:
  • A minimum of 6-10 years of experience as a software developer.
  • Two years’ experience as a hands-on development manager or lead of a group of 5+ software engineers.
  • Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) environment
  • Proficient English written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional knowledge and skill with C#/.NET.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft SQL Server. This includes tables, columns and stored procedures.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and algorithms.
  • Experience with automated unit testing and the creation of testable code.
  • Demonstrated experience developing large-scale, high-availability applications and systems.
  • Exceptional problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to quickly and independently learn about new technologies, business and technical terms and concepts is essential
  • Ability to discern between value-added and frivolous work
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and teams, demonstrating high-quality interpersonal skills, including good listening skills, respectful treatment of others, and professional behavior contributing to a positive and enjoyable environment

Team Lead, Software EngineeringWe are currently looking to hire a Team Lead for one of our products to join our passionate team of developers. This role will provide technical leadership to the developers while making sure that the development best practices are followed. An important part of this role would be to assist the Development Manager in designing, building and leading the next version of the product. The Team Lead will report to the Manager, Engineering.Technology StackThe primary technologies used in the current version of this product are: Angular2, ASP.NET MVC, C#, SQL Server, LINQ, Windows Services, Web API, WCF web services, HTML/Javascript, and GitThe primary technologies used in the future version of this product are: .NET Core, Microservices, Docker, SQL Server & PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, understanding of various Cloud offerings, Responsive Web Design, TDD, BDD, Git and more.Primary Responsibilities
  • Be the primary technical contact point for the team.
  • Oversee the code reviews, offer coaching and general technical guidance and best practices to the team developers.
  • Be an advocate of development best practices including TDD and BDD.
  • Ability to learn and work with existing code base, make improvements where necessary and provide ongoing development and support on the existing version of the product.
  • Be comfortable in system design and able to assist in defining, design and build the next version of the product.
  • Write maintainable, clean, re-usable, object-oriented, and efficient programming code in compliance with the coding standards.
  • Be able to work on production and support issues, and work with different teams to resolve escalation issues from the field. Identify and advise improvements to the existing product to reduce escalation issues.
  • Learn and understand the technical details of all relevant products and having hands-on familiarity of the system as required
  • Contribute fresh, new ideas during developer meetings demonstrating a commitment on-going learning
  • Utilizing code coverage, code metrics, and other tools to improve quality of code
  • Mentor and assist in the training and on-boarding of other team members
  • Perform Scum Master duties on a Scrum team.
Skills Required
  • A minimum of 6 years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 2 years leading a team of engineers.
  • Excellent knowledge of C# .Net/Core.
  • Proficient English, both written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Hands on experience with Microservices and Docker is a plus.
  • Experience working with JIRA is preferred
  • Experience with all or most of the technologies listed in the tech stack section above, with the ability to quickly learn and research new trends and technologies as they appear.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and teams, demonstrating high-quality interpersonal skills, including good listening skills, respectful treatment of others, and professional behavior contributing to a positive and enjoyable environment
